Constantinople by Night: The Latin Malaise is a roleplay-intensive MUD built on Vampire: The Dark Ages, with influences from Vampire: The Requiem. Set in late 12th Century Constantinople, inside the Latin Quarter, a slum that takes in the glut of foreigners pouring into the city. Having devolved into anarchy and petty battles over Domain, the district has fully slipped from the grasp of the waning Trinity, a name given to a trio of Methuselah elders who attempted to build a perfect utopia for Vampires, dubbed 'The Dream'.
Little is left of the Dream, as the forces of jealousy, entropy, and ennui have split the Trinity into something distant and unrecognizable. Those few who still believe in the Dream dwell inside the core of Constantinople, only able to watch in horror as the future of their city manifests in the slums of the Latin Quarter.
Despite all this, Constantinople remains one of the most coveted cities in Europe. Many Cainites make the journey to arrive at the Latin Quarter for a multitude of reasons. Some escape their past, some seek to stake their claim in bountiful feeding grounds, others to delve into the depths of the ancient, hallowed city in search of knowledge, wealth, or clues on their path to magical enlightenment.
While the tumultuous storm building in Constantinople rages through intrigue, hidden steel, and the proclamations of the undead, it stands unaware to the incoming deluge. Soon, the Fourth Crusade will come, and it will change the fate of the Empire and its most important city. Forever.
Once you create an account, you're able to play the following:
- Vampire: an undead being that takes the form of a human, forever cursed by the blood of Caine, who most believe to be the first Vampire.
- Ghoul: a human that's been mentally and physically enslaved by the addiction of drinking Vitae, a substance from the veins of a Vampire.
- Mortal: unaware of the insidious side of their City. A part of the nightly chattle.
